At Acton Academy Topsail, we believe that education should feel like an adventure, and we're looking for a driven, innovative individual to join our team as a full-time Discovery Studio Guide.

About Acton Academy Topsail
Acton Academy Topsail is a private micro-school and learner-driven community focused on helping each individual discover their calling and change the world. We blend the Montessori method with Socratic guiding, hands-on experiential quests, and interactive technology, all rooted in the Hero's Journey—a framework that turns learning into a dynamic, real-world adventure.

In our mixed-age classrooms, which we call studios, children take charge of their own learning. We prioritize self-paced exploration over traditional grade-level structures, culminating in projects and exhibitions instead of test scores and report cards. Our learners are empowered to take responsibility for their education, and our Guides are mentors who provide support and guidance along the way.

What You’ll Do as a Discovery Studio Guide:

• Lead a studio of mixed-age learners through a unique, hands-on learning experience that emphasizes the Hero’s Journey.
• Facilitate Socratic discussions that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and meaningful collaboration.
• Empower students to take ownership of their learning by creating life-oriented quests and projects that spark curiosity and engagement.
• Act as a mentor and coach, helping children build independence, develop strong character, and discover their passions.
• Collaborate with other Guides to continuously refine our educational approach and create a dynamic, growth-driven environment.
• Support and inspire students to take risks, face challenges, and persevere through the process of self-discovery and learning.
• Foster a sense of community, ensuring every student feels seen, heard, and valued in their journey.

• A passionate, entrepreneurial individual who believes in empowering children to learn and grow independently.
• A strong communicator with the ability to engage with learners, parents, and colleagues in meaningful ways.
• A natural mentor with an understanding of or willingness to learn the Socratic Method and the Hero’s Journey approach to education.
• A self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced, and ever-evolving environment.
• Kind-hearted, tough-minded, and able to maintain a calm, positive demeanor in the face of challenges.
