Celebrating Business: Gideon Heating and Air Conditioning
Third generation business remains family-owned and operated
Gideon Heating & Air Conditioning, located at 98 J.H. Batts Road, has been a staple of the Topsail Island community since 1967. Gideon HVAC, as many locals know them, was originally opened by Pete and Gwenn Gideon. It was founded on the principles of always doing the right thing for their customers, while staying on top of any advancements in the industry.
Gideon HVAC is currently owned and operated by Cameron Hall, third generation Gideon/Hall. He took the helm in January of 2023, proceeding the retirement of his parents, Mac and Terri (Gideon) Hall. Members of Cameron’s family still support the daily operations of the business: brother, cousin, uncle.
Cameron and his team continue the legacy of ensuring their local Topsail Community receives quick, honest support in keeping their families comfortable all year. They truly understand what salt air can do to HVAC equipment. “We keep parts on hand,” Cameron explained. “In our warehouse, we stock coils and compressors—you name it. In most cases we can complete repairs in the same day.”
Gideon Heating & Air Conditioning has remained in such high demand within in the local community that they have in turn had to grow in size exponentially. When they started in 1967 they began with only four employees and one location. Today, they employ over 65 HVAC experts, also adding offices in Wallace and Wilmington.
Through all of the growth Gideon HVAC has managed to keep the same way of doing business. “We don’t push sales,” said Cam. “Our philosophy is simple: we’ll do whatever it takes to get the job done. That means explaining options to the customer. We also offer replacement and warranty options, helping customers protect their investment.” In the corroding salt air routine maintenance is essential. With this knowledge, the Gideon Coastal Club was created. Members receive crucial seasonal tune-ups, discounts, and valuable extras that also enhance the benefits of their HVAC system.
“We live here,” Cameron stated. “We stay updated on any changes and will stand behind our work.” His team stays on the cutting edge of the heating & air industry. Over the years building codes and equipment have changed, including requirements for ductwork installation. They sell, install and maintain equipment from major manufacturers, such as Trane and Carrier.
