Sea Green Natural Cleaning was established in 2021, but the company’s owner, Cathy Mails, has been practicing natural cleaning since 1984.

“We only use home cleaning products that are made using sustainable manufacturing practices and with safe, biodegradable ingredients that don't negatively impact the environment,” said Cathy. “We only have one planet. We have one life and we need to use products that are not harmful to our environment and our health.”

Sea Green Natural Cleaning is North Carolina’s first and only certified green and natural cleaning business.

Cathy started her pursuit of green and natural cleaning business because her daughter had allergies. She started researching and found that most cleaning products found in chain stores whether scented or unscented have a lot of harmful chemicals in them, she added.

“Cleaning products are not regulated and companies can advertise that they are ‘green’ or ‘natural’ but they still have a lot of chemicals,” Cathy explained.

“We use natural products to clean our clients’ homes and businesses,” said Cathy. “We use cotton and microfiber rags to clean instead of paper towels – every aspect of what we do and why we do it is for the environment and our health,” Cathy added, Sea Green Natural Cleaning doesn’t clean brick and mortar.

Cathy believes it’s all about educating people regarding health and safety. To do that, she writes blogs that appear on her website, https://seagreennaturalcleaning.com. She is currently writing a book.

“I’m a research buff,” admitted Cathy. “In my blogs I write tips and share tidbits that everyone can practice at home – things like use wool balls in the dryer instead of dryer sheets. These tips and tidbits are economical for a home budget too.”

While her business is cleaning the homes and businesses of others, Cathy offers suggestions for the everyday household that doesn’t have a cleaning service.

“I recommend Bon Ami. It’s been around since the 1800s; it won’t scratch surfaces,” said Cathy. She added that many households have natural cleansers such as cream of tartar, salt, and baking soda.

“My parents had rental properties in New England,” said Cathy. “I learned at a very early age how to clean a property and how to make beds to perfection.”
