Recipients of the Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards honored in April
PENDER COUNTY - The North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service has presented the 2025 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award to five recipients from Pender County. The award recipients are: Barbara Everly, Deniss Yott, Tammie Parris, Annette Erny, and Liz Trojan.
The recipients were nominated by their peers for service in Pender County.
“These five outstanding volunteers donate hundreds of hours to projects at the area senior centers, Pender Education Partnership, Reel Housewives of Topsail Island, and Ocean Fest,” said Tammy Proctor, the Pender County coordinator of the annual Governor’s Service Award project.
Each recipient will receive a certificate from Gov. Josh Stein and a handsome lapel pin.
The Governor’s Volunteer Service Award honors people who have shown concern and compassion for their neighbors by making a significant contribution to their community through volunteer service. The award was created in the Office of the Governor in 1979. April is Volunteer Awareness Month.
