YWCA Lower Cape Fear and Women’s Worth Alliance to present new program in Pender County

SURF CITY – The Hampstead Women’s Club will host the YWCA Lower Cape Fear and Women’s Worth Alliance entitled “The New Face of Wealth.” The Greater Topsail Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism is partnering with the YWCA and Women’s Worth Alliance to bring this four-part educational and networking opportunity to Pender County.

“We are very pleased to be a small part of bringing this program to our region,” said Tammy Proctor, the chamber’s executive director. “This is the first time a YWCA program will be available in Pender County and the first time Women’s Worth Alliance will be offered in North Carolina.”

Old ideas about wealth and affluence are fading as we break through societal boundaries, acknowledges the Women’s Worth Alliance. Independent, educated, and ambitious, we (women) are participating in the economy at higher rates, controlling a bigger share of personal wealth, holding more seats in Congress, and leading more major companies than ever. As our influence grows, so does our impact on the economy.

This is a program of discovery, education, and networking for women of all ages, such as women who are just beginning careers, women who are considering retirement, and all those in between.

The first Women’s Worth Alliance meeting will take place on May 16 at the Hampstead Women’s Club. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with hor d’oeuvres, wine, and refreshments served. The program will begin at 6:20 p.m. and conclude by 8 p.m. The group will meet on Aug. 22., Nov. 21, and Jan. 8.

“The premise of the Women’s Worth Alliance is not to sell insurance or investments but to educate women on the economic realities we face,” said Proctor. “We discuss the ‘what ifs’ of life. We will start with featured ‘Storytellher’ Jo Adcock, a wife and mother of three children, whose life was turned upside down in an instant. Hear her journey of loss and recovery on May 16.”
